Abstract
Hazrat Muhammad (sm.) founded the first Islamic state in Medina. This was the first effective step in the formation of a non-secular state in world history. Through the signing of the Medina Charter, the outline of peaceful coexistence of Muslims, non-Muslims, Jews, immigrants, people of all classes and professions in the same state, regardless of nation, religion, caste-gender, was presented to the world. Previous prophets and messengers were sent to specific regions or communities. But Allah Almighty sent Prophet Muhammad (sm.) as a mercy for the entire world. In the ignorance, he appeared before the people with a torch of light. He founded the formal journey of the Islamic state in Medina 1400 years ago with a great vow to establish peace in the turbulent world. He formulated the Charter of Medina to govern the newly formed state, which is a guide for future statesmen. The Medina Charter is very relevant to us in creating bonds of compassion, harmony and cordiality in the current conflict-ridden world. Analytical and descriptive methods have been followed in the formulation of this paper.
